An An article by The Telegraph has pinpointed the best pub in each county, and The Glue Pot in Emelyn Square was crowned the best in our region. The Telegraph ranking said that The Glue Pot is “an easy-going street-corner pub, handsome in an understated way, and as good for cider as it is beer.” unspoilt corner pub which is part of the historic Railway Village built in the 1840s. It often hosts community groups and talks on local history. There are seven Hop Back or Downton real ales available including some seasonal ones, plus one guest beer. It is a leading real cider pub and always stocks a wide range. Normally a quiet pub, but can get busy on weekend evenings. Monday is Book & Beer club night and there is a quiz on Wednesday evenings.
